Deleting the "Main Characters" portal

The "Main Characters" portal was absurd, and I have deleted it.

The entire portal defined "Main Characters" based simply on their number of episode appearances.

Yet this is a TV series on which certain characters can have relatively brief screentime but large impact upon the storyline. It is a book adaptation.

Moreover, it's a flawed way of measuring total screentime: some characters appear for 5 minutes in all 10 episodes of a season...under this portal's reckoning, one major character who had 50 minutes of screentime spread across only two episodes is not as important.

I would also like to point out the painstakingly produced guide to dialogue in Season 3 produced by Sean T. Collins of The Rolling Stone, which ranks each character in the series by how many speaking lines they had:

The top 5 are Tyrion, Jaime, Daenerys, Sansa, Arya. Well and good. But as you move down the list, Missandei (number 17, 58 lines) and Shae (number 18, 54 lines) outranked Varys (number 22, 46 lines).

But the worst offense is that Catelyn Stark herself ranked in at number 40. Think on that: Bronn came in twice as high (at number 23) simply because Tyrion interacts with him.

Thus a list based on the raw number of episodes a character happens to appear in...happens to take up space absolutely meaningless.

The portal was actually made by someone called User:Lynettefan2626 two years ago...whose account has since been globally banned by Wikia.

This portal was a drain on finite resources of time and attention, which should be repurposed towards constructing better portals in the future.
