The Civic Guard[a] is the force that protects the city-state of Qarth. They also serve as bodyguards to the members of the Thirteen, the rulers of the city.
History[]
Game of Thrones: Season 2[]
When Daenerys Targaryen and her khalasar arrive the gates of Qarth, a cadre of Civic Guards appear before them to protect the Thirteen.[1]
The members of the Civic Guard guarding the manse of Xaro Xhoan Daxos are murdered during the robbery of Daenerys's dragons.[2]
Equipment[]
Members of the Civic Guard wear bronze armor above their torsos. They carry long lances and round shields.
In the books[]
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, the Civic Guard is commanded by the Pureborn of Qarth. It includes some camelry and works in partnership with the Pureborn fleet.
