Conan Stevens is an Australian professional wrestler, actor and scriptwriter. He is 7' 1/4" in height.
In Game of Thrones he played the role of Gregor Clegane in the first season. He made himself known to the fan community and to the series producers early in the development of the series and lobbied for the role, gaining fan support due to his enthusiasm for the project. He auditioned for the part of Khal Drogo in the pilot so as to put his name in circulation for Gregor when auditioning for the series itself took place. He was confirmed in the role by Westeros.org on 7 July 2010. After appearing in two episodes of the first season, it was announced that Stevens would be playing the role of an orc chieftain named Bolg in the movie version of The Hobbit, as well as playing the character Sedullos in Spartacus:Vengeance.
On 12 September 2011, responding to speculation on the Winter is Coming fansite, Conan Stevens confirmed that he had left the series, due to scheduling conflicts with his other projects: Stevens will be playing the Orc king Bolg in The Hobbit prequel trilogy. Stevens took the time to thank fans for their support[1]. He was replaced in the role of Gregor by Ian Whyte.
