Syrio Forel

Syrio Forel, former First Sword of Braavos.

"Nine years Syrio Forel was First Sword to the Sealord of Braavos."
―Syrio Forel[src]

First Sword of Braavos is the title held by the chief protector and champion of the Sealord of the Free City of Braavos.

Known First Swords of Braavos

  • {Elyo Grivas} - he held the position at some time before Syrio.
  • {Syrio Forel} - he held the position for nine years.

In the books

In the A Song of Ice and Fire books, the First Sword of Braavos is chosen by the Sealord often because he is the most observant of the Bravos, not necessarily the most talented swordsman, thus most able to protect him from threats both seen and unseen.
