:Once again: it is difficult to match the TV show to book numbers due to some annoying and shortsighted changes they made. However, of Renly's 100,000 strong army, roughly two thirds were from the Reach under House Tyrell (which can field about twice as many soldiers as any other kingdom). Stannis instantly went from having a scant 5,000 men to about 20,000 to 30,000, but some 70,000 Tyrel soldiers are now in limbo. --[[User:The Dragon Demands|The Dragon Demands]] 18:54, May 19, 2012 (UTC)

This would be fairly difficult given that the TV series has been quite inconsistent with numbers, i.e. how they truncated the Battle of Whispering Wood, and...for no discernable reason, drastically increased the combined size of the initial Lannister army to a whopping 60,000 men, of which 30,000 get annihilated at Whispering Wood (also turning Green Fork into a slaughter of 2,000 men instead of a retreat in good order, etc.). Given that this wiki is focused on being "current" with the TV show, it might be a good idea to keep an actively updated page for the War of the Five Kings, as we would for a contemporary real-life war happening "live", but the page would get ungainly really fast (look how big the one on Wiki of Ice and Fire is). Maybe try starting it as a major subheading on "War of the Five Kings" and see where it goes from there. From what I've seen so far, though, the TV series isn't really trying to be consistent about numbers so much as about the basic point of the story's movements (i.e. it doesn't really matter whether Stannis has 5,000 men or 6,000 men). Dear God, I hope they don't completely remove any mention of the Battle of Oxcross, that was Robb's finest hour. --> Instead of focusing on some sort of overall statistic, it should be how real-world wars, Lord of the Rings Wikis, and the A Wiki of Ice and Fire do it: list the size of the armies involved in individual battles in their infoboxes, and in the Context/Aftermath sections, explain how this affects the overall strategic position, i.e. "Jaime Lannister's loss at Whispering Wood left only the 20,000 under Tywin at Harrenhal and green conscripts in the Westerlands." etc. --The Dragon Demands 02:39, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

Once again: it is difficult to match the TV show to book numbers due to some annoying and shortsighted changes they made. --The Dragon Demands 18:54, May 19, 2012 (UTC)
