As the title says... Is Tyrion Lannister a 'Lord'?
If not then the section under 'House Baratheon of Kings Landing' needs to be edited as he is listed as 'Lord Tyrion Lannister'.
Im not entirely sure if he is currently a 'Lord' of anything.
I could be mistaken tough, perhaps being acting Hand of the King made him a lord, or perhaps being master of coin. He no longer acquires such positions though.
- He's not a Lord of anything. He's called "Lord Tyrion" as a sign of respect, just like Varys, because he was Hand of the King and Master of Coin. That's it.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 21:15, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
George R.R. Martin has mentioned that he regrets that he didn't come up with a more diverse set of aristocratic titles within the books:
You see in real life there was a hierarchy of peerage and titles, so you could be a "Duke" or a "Count", then "Viscount", then "Baron", and so on.
The problem is that in Westeros....all members of the nobility get to be called "my lord" (lowercase L), but Tywin Lannister is "Lord of Casterly Rock" (capital L). Given that the Westerlands are...the size of England or France (because Westeros is a continent), it would sort of have made more sense to call him "Duke of Casterly Rock", or Ned Stark "Earl of Winterfell".
Unfortunately, he reused the "Lord" title for both actual "rulers" and people who are just "members of the aristocracy".
Indeed, because he married Lollys Stokeworth, Bronn is now going to my addressed as "my lord", but he isn't "Lord" of anything yet (so he's not "my Lord" capital L).
At least Dorne has varied titles: "Prince of Dorne" is the ruler, but "Lord of Blackmont" is ruler of Blackmont....but then even the younger siblings of Lord Blackmont would still be called a "lord" lowercase (that, and we call Doran "Ruling Prince" of Dorne to specify that he's the ruler, when in fact every member of House Martell gets to be called Prince or Princess, i.e. Oberyn is called a Prince despite being the younger brother and not ruling anything.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 21:49, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
