I have noticed that some of our character articles list characters as Major characters. I wonder how we define this? Should this be a category?--Opark 77 14:48, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
- The obvious delineation should be between characters whose actors are named in the opening title sequence, though this is not entirely satisfactory: Tywin, Renly and Varys (to name but three) are certainly major characters who are not so listed. As a result I would hesitate to make it a formal category until a better definition can be found.--Werthead 21:10, February 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. I have been standardizing the lead sections of our character articles and used this definition there. Glad I was thinking along the same lines. I agree that it is not the best way to separate them. I'm afraid I did tag the articles with categories as I went along - Category: Minor Characters, Category: Recurring Characters, Category: Major Characters and Category: Mentioned Characters. Mentioned was already in existence but I have made sure every page in Category: Characters is in one of these four. I hope that is not problematic and if we do change the definition in future let me know and I will happily update the categorization as needed.--Opark 77 21:53, February 9, 2012 (UTC)
