King Viserys I Targaryen ruled between 103 AC to 129 AC. His daughter Rhaenrya was born before his son Aegon II, but there was confusion across the realm on who would succeed the King, as there had never been a Queen in the past, though Rhaenys had staked her claim before the Great Council of 101 AC, Viserys's wife, Queen Alicent, wished for her son to ascend to the throne, alongside the rest of her supporters, called the Greens. This name was coined after the color of a gown the Queen wore at the tourney of 111 AC. By contrast, Rhaenrya's supporters were called the Blacks, the color the Princess wore at the same event. Both factions clashed together in the greatest conflict in Westerosi history, the Dance of the Dragons. At the end, the Greens were defeated, though both Aegon II and Rhaenrya were killed in the conflict. Rhaenyra's son, Aegon III, ascended the throne.
