Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is an Icelandic strongman.

He took over the role of Gregor "The Mountain That Rides" Clegane for the fourth and fifth seasons. He stands at 6 feet 9 inches, or 2.06 m tall[1]

He took up bodybuilding and competing in strongman competitions after a knee injury ended his basketball career.

Björnsson won the Europe's Strongest Man 2014 competition. Having been declared the strongest man in Europe, he qulaified to enter into the World's Strongest Man 2014 competition.[2] Björnsson finished the 2014 competition in second place, ranking behind only Lithuanian strongman Žydrūnas Savickas - the previous reigning champion as Europe's Strongest Man since 2010, until Björnsson broke his record (Savickas won in 2010, 2012, and 2013, but the Europe's Strongest Man competition was on hiatus in 2011 and no champion was named that year).
