House Reyne is an extinct vassal house of the Westerlands sworn to House Lannister of Casterly Rock. Their seat was Castamere.
House Reyne was obliterated after they rebelled against their liege lord, Tytos Lannister, who was perceived as weak by his own vassals. To restore Lannister dominance, Tytos' son, Tywin, marched against the upstart Lord Reyne. By the end of the rebellion, Castamere had been put to the torch and all members of House Reyne executed.[1]
The destruction of House Reyne was immortalized in the song "The Rains of Castamere."[1]
In the books
In the Song of Ice and Fire novels, the Reynes were one of the richest and most powerful Westerosi families after the Lannisters. During their defiance against Casterly Rock, the Reynes rose alongside the ancient House Tarbeck of Tarbeck Hall.
