House Staunton were a nobel house from the Crownlands. Their seat was Rook's Rest and they were loyal to the Black faction of House Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons.

Due to House Staunton's loyalty to the Blacks, Rook's Rest came under attack from a Green army led by Ser Criston Cole. Lord Staunton sent a raven to his Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen on Dragonstone, requesting her aid. Several days passed in which the Green army burned the fields and villages surrounding Rook's Rest before Rhaenys Targaryen arrived on her dragon [[[Meleys]]. Unfortunately, both of them were killed in an ensuing battle with King Aegon II Targaryen and Aemond Targaryen on their dragons Sunfyre and Vhagar.[1]

In the books

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, House Staunton's words and sigil are unknown, though according to semi-canon sources the latter is two black wings upon a white fess on checkered black and grey.
