Ian Beattie is a Northern Irish actor. He attended Methodist College Belfast. He is best known for playing the role of Antigonus in Oliver Stone's movie Alexander, and has also appeared in The Tudors, Mo and Space Truckers.
In Game of Thrones he is playing Ser Meryn Trant, a knight of the Kingsguard. He was announced in the role on 14 October 2010. He initially appeared as a guest star in the first season and returned in this role for the second, third, and fourth season.
