Sir John Standing (born 16 August 1934) is a British actor. He has a very long career in television and film, as well as theatrical work. His most recent genre role was in V For Vendetta. He has a previous George R.R. Martin connection, as he appeared in the 1987 film based on Martin's novella Nightflyers.

In Game of Thrones he plays Lord Jon Arryn (as corpse). He was confirmed in the role on 16 July 2010.
