Ingram got her start in musical theater when she was nine years old, when her mother found her an audition for a local production of Annie. Afterwards, she worked her way up to West End productions. She won the Laurence Olivier Award for her role as "Matilda" in Matilda the Musical. She has a minor part in the film Les Misérables.
Ingram suffers from brittle bone disease (Osteogenesis imperfecta). She has regularly fractured bones since she was born. Her sister Rachel, who is two years younger than her, also suffers from the condition. Kerry manages to cope with the help of Pamidronate drug infusions which are delivered in four-hour sessions, once a day, for three days every four months at Heatherwood Hospital and Wexham Park.
