Maegi are female practitioners of blood magic from Essos. The Dothraki hate and mistrust maegi. According to Mirri Maz Duur, the word means "wise".
Known Maegi
- {Mirri Maz Duur}, a Lhazareen godswife of the Great Shepherd. Burned alive in Khal Drogo's funeral pyre by Daenerys Targaryen.
In the books
In the A Song of Ice and Fire books, Maegi are distrusted and hated by the Dothraki, who claim they lay with demons. Some of them have the capability of foretelling a person's future by tasting a drop of their blood.
