Peter Vaughan (born 4 April 1923) is a British actor. He has appeared many times on screen and on stage since the 1950s, including a leading role alongside Frank Sinatra in The Naked Runner. He appeared in many British television series of the 1960s and 1970s, including Porridge, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Citizen Smith. He also played the role of Denethor in the acclaimed 1981 BBC radio dramatisation of The Lord of the Rings. More recent roles including a recurring stint on Lark Rise to Candleford.

In Game of Thrones Vaughan is playing Maester Aemon. He was confirmed in the role on 16 July 2010.

Vaughan is partially blind and portrays the blind character, Aemon, in the show.
