Sean Bean (born 17 April 1959) is an English actor who has worked in film, television and theatrical productions, as well as providing voice-overs for commercials and computer games.

He first became well-known for his portrayal of Richard Sharpe in the long-running British television series Sharpe, before appearing as Boromir in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. He has also carved out a role as a Hollywood villain, appearing in antagonistic roles in films such as Patriot Games, GoldenEye and National Treasure.

He starred in HBO's Game of Thrones as Lord Eddard Stark. He was announced in the role on 19 July 2009. He appeared in nine episodes of the first season (though was credited for all ten) before being written out, following the character's fate as depicted in the novel.
