- No, they are not. At best they are also descendants of the First Men that reject the rule of House Arryn. They too are called 'wildlings' but are not THE wildlings--Gonzalo84 (talk) 20:23, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
- "Wildlings" is like a synonym for "barbarians", and as I wrote into the article, usually out of context it is understood to refer to the Free Folk north of the Wall. I wish the TV show had avoided using it entirely for the hill tribes, but Tywin calls them that at one point. As explained above...they're only generically related in the broad sense that they're also descended from the First Men, and probably don't have much Andal blood descent, but the same could be said for many groups across even southern Westeros - like the Norman Conquest which resulted in Norman elites ruling over Saxon commoners, but which later blended over the centuries, the upper classes tend to be more Andal than First Men in southern Westeros, but this is heavily blurred (i.e. the Tullys and even the Lannisters consider themselves "Andal" but acknowledge that they do have some descent from the First Men).--The Dragon Demands (talk) 12:53, May 8, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, the new World App confirms that the Hill tribes are descended from the First Men who got pushed into the high mountains, and are not just tribes of First Men/Andal mixture who settled there later: --The Dragon Demands (talk) 03:44, March 21, 2014 (UTC)
- Ack, unfortunately no, I don't use Apps or Apple stuff. Over on AWOIAF Nittanian and Rhaenys_Targaryen have been updating info from the App, and I was just following their updates. Maybe you could ask them for a full quote over on AWOIAF. But their citation says it was from the App's entry on "Mountains of the Moon".--The Dragon Demands (talk) 18:33, March 22, 2014 (UTC)
