When were they mentioned?[]

I can't remember them being mentioned? Jordan 'The Blur' Farrell 10:10, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

In the episode Two Swords Joffrey reads in The Book of Brothers about Arthur Dayne, and in the books they play a greater role. Edric Dayne, the future Lord of House Dayne is a squire to Lord Beric Dondarrion and followed him in the Brotherhood without banners. A distant cousin of him, Gerold Dayne, assisted Princess Arianne Martell in their plans.

Heraldry[]

What the heck happened to House Dayne's heraldry? I realize that the Kingsguard book in the finale used a different version, but it's drastically different from the ones used up to this point, which are more book accurate, and if nothing else the fan made white on blue design here isn't as clean lined as the older versions.

I don't see the issue personally... It's different from the previous version, yes, but the previous ones were both different from each other. One was an off-pink color. It's a retcon, but a very minor one, that isn't really a cause for concern. It seems that while recreating the Book of Brothers the art department decided to adopt a new design that is a bit cleaner and more eye catching. They've done this a few times before, especially with the minor houses (Mormont, Gardener, Reed...) We've always used the most recent on-screen depiction so I'm not sure why this case should be any different? Because it's not purple? The Bolton sigil isn't pink, but that doesn't mean we can declare that the show version "didn't work out so well" and change it to something to our liking. - Xanderen signature 14:51, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
I agree with Xanderen (though I acknowledge my bias since I drew the thing). For better or worse the blue design is the latest canon version and it being different to the book version is not a strong argument since many other sigils are. I already tweaked the sigil from my initial, poorer, rendition but I can work on it and see if I can get the lines to be a bit clearer, though I'm not 100 % sure what you mean.
