Adam Friedberg

I'm calling this now: I suspect that Missandei was aged-up because with Irri gone (and Jhiqui written out and Doreah dying differently), Adam Friedberg wanted an age-appropriate replacement to stand in for the Irri/Daenerys sex scene. Its HBO! --The Dragon Demands (talk) 19:29, September 18, 2012 (UTC)

I think you are very likely right but we shouldn't speculate in our articles.--Opark 77 (talk) 21:07, September 18, 2012 (UTC)
I know, I know. I'm sorry.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 21:18, September 18, 2012 (UTC)

Seems increasingly likely that Missandei is going to have sex with Daenerys in Season 5: [1]. --The Dragon Demands (talk) 21:38, January 13, 2015 (UTC)

Adam Friedberg delivers yet again

Okay I've heard cryptic references to a Missandei bathing scene in Season 4 from set photos from comment chatter on, but I dismissed it as internet chatter because they cited no sources. Just now, I stumbled onto a bunch of set pics from Season 4. Yes, the rumors were true, they're actually doing this - Missandei is bathing in a river and stands up, walking around entirely naked. This serves utterly no narrative purpose, wasn't in the books - in which Missandei is a god-damned ten year old. The show is already coming under criticism for having one too many gratuitous nudity shots. "Gratuitous" being defined as "does not serve the actual plot and was clearly put in purely as excitement". So it's come to this, eh Adam?--The Dragon Demands (talk) 10:24, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

Time spent on a gratuitous Missandei nude scene is time that could have been spent establishing that, you know, she gets reunited with her long-lost brother who was an Unsullied?--The Dragon Demands (talk) 17:55, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

Ah, good news, someone on WiC linked to a better gallery of spy photos. For a while I thought Missandei had full frontal nudity scenes: she actually doesn't. The actress is actually wearing modesty tape (so she's technically not bottomless or topless). The usual HBO stuff, but for a moment I was worried. Then again, even if all of the hardcore nudity stuff is off-camera, we don't know if it will be in good taste nonetheless. Good news, however, is that Emmanuel said in a red carpet interview that Season 4 will round out Missandei's character a bit more, actually explain her backstory (i.e. dialogue may finally explain "I'm from this third continent called Sothoryos, my people worship the Lord of Harmony who preaches utter pacifism, and as a result we didn't fight off the slavers who attacked us." etc. Specifically said we see Missandei rounded out more as a person, not just stuck in "dutiful servant" mode but being Daenerys's actual confidant--The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:21, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Infobox image

I think we should stick with the current image, with Missandei as a slave and large frizzy hair. She's the only character outright stated to be from Sothoryos; using a picture in which her hair is tied down almost Europeanizes her apperance; the current image emphasizes that she doesn't look like, say, Cersei Lannister.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 16:02, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

I say the tied down hair emphasizes that she's a slave. Besides it doesn't match how she looks in the actual episode.--Gonzalo84 (talk) 16:11, April 1, 2013 (UTC)
I'd rather emphasize her as a Sothoryosi woman than as a slave trying to look like the hairstyle of her masters. That, and the image box isn't always about the most recent episode, but the most iconic image of a character for that season.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 16:31, April 1, 2013 (UTC)
I think if HBO released this image of her, that is the one we should go with. QueenBuffy35 Crown New Red 17:26, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

Her Accent

Seriously, despite caming from the island Naath which is located from Sothoryos, Why did she ever speak in a british accent rather than Naathi? That bugs me Antart1023 (talk) 19:48, August 2, 2017 (UTC

She's clearly really good with languages. Perhaps she speaks in a Britsh accent while speaking Common because that is how native Common-speakers sound when using the language. She adapts her accent depending on which language she's speaking, using the accent of the native speakers. Dr. Legendary (talk) 18:57, October 1, 2017 (UTC)
