- Minor book spoilers: in the books, the inhabitants of Mole's Town actually flee to Castle Black ahead of the wildling raiders (Jon sent a warning); the wildlings torch the town but the people had already fled. When the attack does come, the refugees from Mole's Town join the defenders, under the principle of "anyone who can hold a weapon needs to try to defend themselves, or we're all dead, we can't outright the wildlings if they break the Wall". One of these Mole's Town refugees was a whore named Zei, who actually proved quite proficient with a crossbow. - That makes sense! Jon makes it pretty clear when he says "If they hit Mole's Town, then we're next." that a fleeing resident from Mole's Town would seek out refugee at Castle Black (no doubt there).
