Considering her absence from the family tree (per the article), and lines from episode 202 stating his wife giving only stillborns (as well as her general absence, and of Patchface, alas), it would seem she has been effetely written out from the series.. 86.28.234.224 00:45, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

I thought that Melisandre was specifically saying that Selyse had stillborn sons thus leaving the door open for Shireen.--Opark 77 00:51, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

She says "And she has given you nothing. No sons. Only stillborns. Only death." Stannis then gives himself to her saying "a son", not a heir or a child.

Second Cousin (noun) the child of a first cousin of either of one's parents [1]

"Second Cousins" - the children of two first cousins. (Wikipedia - Cousins).

Melessa Florent and Selyse Florent are first cousins. Samwell is Melessa's child, Shireen is Selyse's child. Thus, they are clearly second cousins.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 14:01, July 15, 2013 (UTC)
