Is the nickname for Tarth, the Sapphire Isle, in any way analogous with Ireland's nickname, the Emerald Island? KarstenO (talk) 20:21, January 11, 2015 (UTC)

...not that I know of, I mean, there are a lot of islands called "The Ruby Island", "the Windy Island" or whatever in real life. It could be. No confirmation, though. Besides, the Iron Islands are sort of the Ireland analogue in Westeros (if "Westeros" is "mainland Britain", then the Iron Islands/Ireland are "islands to the west where raiders come from")...though difference is that Ireland is actually a green and pleasant land, and the Iron Islands are basically rocks...more like the Outer Islands like the Isle of Mann in that respect. Look it's not all a one for one correspondence. Ack.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:42, January 11, 2015 (UTC)
