Game of Thrones Season 7 Official Trailer (HBO)

    Fannotation:

    • Cersei had a new map room made, a large floor with a map of Westeros painted onto it. She's walking around on it with Jaime.
    • Cersei: "Enemies to the east, west, south, and north. Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it. " -- Daenerys to the east, Euron Greyjoy to the west, Tyrells and Martells to the south (allied with Daenerys), Jon Snow commanding the North and the Vale.
    • Cersei: "We're the last Lannisters, the last ones who count." [Technically there are many minor cousins, and they've loosely acknowledged that in the past - they're the last of the main branch.]
    • When we see Jaime and Cersei in front of the Iron Throne, on closer inspection, Jaime is now carrying the Valyrian steel sword Widow's Wail. Tywin had Ned's greatsword Ice melted down into two regular sized swords; one he gave to Jaime who gave it to Brienne and named it "Oathkeeper". The other was a wedding present to Joffrey, who named it "Widow's Wail", but then was poisoned. The books make more explicit that Tommen inherited Joffrey's sword along with his throne, but as he is underaged (and just stuck in a castle) he never wielded it. With Tommen dead, I guess such a useful blade defaults back to Jaime.
    • Tyrion on Dragonstone (you can recognize the castle walls) sees dragons.
    • Daenerys on Dragonstone, at the gate. Touches the ground. Dragonstone is very important to her - it's not just "wow I'm setting foot in Westeros" -- she was born on Dragonstone island. Fled into exile in the Free Cities a matter of days or weeks later.
    • Daenerys in Dragonstone throne room, hewn from volcanic rock. Apparently in the background off-screen when we previously saw Stannis there.
    • Unsullied storming into a castle fighting Lannister stoldiers, it has Lannister lion decorations on the walls - possibly Casterly Rock?
    • Winterfell hall. Brienne is back in the North.
    • Littlefinger: "Your father and brothers are dead, yet here you stand." to Sansa.
    • What's Theon looking at in front of fire?
    • Melisandre has returned to Dragonstone.
    • Group holding spears beyond the Wall, wearing heavy winter clothing like wildlings. Might be Jon and Tormund, seen later. Matches set reports that they'll go north of the Wall to catch a wight to show the other factions the real enemy they're facing.
    • Arya in snow next to her horse, camped out making a fire.
    • Dothraki army charging and attacking.
    • A ship on fire, men running. Probably ironborn.
    • Daenerys and Tyrion around the Painted Table war room on Dragonstone.
    • Gregor Clegane - Cersei's Queensgard has new armor.
    • Greyjoy soldiers running on a ship.
    • Jon and Littlefinger are in the Winterfell crypts. Jon slams him into the wall by his throat, one-handed. Mirroring Ned in Season 1.
    • More of Unsullied attacking Lannister soldiers at a castle.
    • Arya looking under a bed.
    • Apparently, Jorah's greyscale-encrusted hand, reaching through a hole in a door (he seems quarantined)
    • More of Dothraki cavalry attacking Lannister soldiers.
    • Jon and Tormund beyond the Wall, running.
    • Grey Worm and Missandei, taking their clothes off to have a sex scene.
    • ...Ellaria Sand inexplicably kissing Yara Greyjoy, shoving her hand down her pants.
      • If this is more than a 10 second joke it's very exploitative.
    • Daenerys (possibly Tyrion) at Painted Table, uses a Dragon army marker to knock over a Lannister Lion army marker, apparently in the Dornish Marches. Or Casterly Rock?
    • Two people jumping into water to avoid fire on a boat.
    • Vast Dothraki horde charging, with Drogon flying along with them as air support.
    • Fade to black, Jon Snow voiceover: "The Great War...is here."

    • Why are you triggered by yara and ellaria kissing, you don't even know if they met prior to that.. does it matter? Dead @ "extremely offensive". Get over yourself lmao.

Anw, I'm shook! Surprised there's no sight of Euron, Bran or Olenna though.

    • .....They haven't met prior to this season. GRRM said Yara isn't gay in the books so they won't in the next book either.

When people complained about the Ros/Armeca sex scene at Littlefinger's in Season 1, it wasn't because "ew, sex" or "ew, woman on woman sex".

It's because the showrunners are a pair of horny 13 year old boys in adult bodies, who think Lesbians Are Hot. Hyper-sexualizing gay women. That's quite offensive.

And maybe this is just a small moment taken out of context (the Yara with random brothel whore thing from Season 6 wasn't particularly big, but seemed liked it in the trailer).

POINT OF CLARIFICATION: If Yara were like, making out with Daenerys as a fling in the trailer, I'd be fine with that (they met last season, Daenerys is bi in the novels and was flirty with her last season, etc.)

The reason a lot of people on the internet are facepalming about this is because "Ellaria" Season 5 onwards turned into just the showrunners stunt-casting her into doing wacky things....just a vanity project to show off the actress. A poorly done one, the two of them just surrounding her with wacky inventions (like that godawful "you want a good girl..." line).

Quickly, any storyline Ellaria appeared in became the next one the showrunners "jazzed up" with their own wacky, drunken inventions.

....so really, if Yara were kissing ANYONE else, any other woman, this wouldn't be a problem.

But Ellaria Sand...has become a red flag that "we're about to do something horrendously stupid and gratuitous because we the showrunners are drunk sex hounds who by our own admission put in naked women to pander to the perv side of the audience"

It's just "what other random ways can we just abandon these characters storylines?"

Headache inducing. Make a tumblr blog about it. As a gay person myself, I can assure you people like you are beyond exhausting. What you call "hyper-sexualizing" gay women is as much "hyper sexualizing" them as any other straight person on this show. This show is made off of sex. And if there were no gay scenes, you would all be crying lack of sexual diversity, give me a break. If you have a problem with Ellaria Sand as a character, base your complaints off of that, the fact that you have a problem with her kissing another woman says.. Well just that. That you have a problem with a woman kissing another woman. Well done putting a screenshot of them kissing on the mainpage regardless though? Lel

    • Great overview of the trailer! What you said about Yara and Ellaria being offensive to meet is just stupid! Their both lesbians yes but what difference does it make seriouly! Its Game of Thrones what do you think was going to happen with 2 lesbian characters?

    • ....Listen to what I'm saying:

Yara kissing Daenerys wouldn't be a problem - they've interacted before, they kind of set that up.

Yara...randomly making out with Ellaria, is just gratuitous Male Gaze. Because Benioff and Weiss are obsessed with Indira Varma.

The story isn't "built on" sex - the invented "I represent the perv side of the audience" sex scenes D&D have invented were never....a model for mature presentation of adult sexuality.

They're horny 13 year old boys in adult bodies.

"what do you think was going to happen with 2 lesbian characters? "

You seriously think homosexual people are all promiscuous enough that them having random sex is a given?

What do I think is supposed to happen with gay characters? Plot arcs and consistent logical characterization.

" If you have a problem with Ellaria Sand as a character, base your complaints off of that, the fact that you have a problem with her kissing another woman says.."

I re-edited my original post and made some additions - "Point of Clarification" onwards, sorry if you missed it; officially, no, not that it's any woman, but very specifically Ellaria of all people.

    • Great overview of the trailer. I think you've covered all points so far.

As for the Yara/Ellaria... relationship. Yes, that was quite insulting.

And no, this isn't homophobia, the fact that they have to force a Yara/Ellaria sexual relationship just to, as DDD already stated, please the perverted, premature side of the audience is offensive and should not have happened.

If they get into a relationship "naturally" (i.e. Jon and Ygritte, Grey Worm and Missandei, etc.) This really wouldn't be a problem. Heck, we loved the fact that Yara and Daenerys were continuously flirting with each other, because that was natural and you could feel there was some chemistry happening between the two.

With Yara and Ellaria... I don't know. I get the feeling that D&D just put that in there because they want "hot lesbian sex lol xd", which I think is just immature and profane.

    • It seems a little early to get offended since we have no idea what context the scene between Ellaria and Yara takes place in. This could take place late in the season after there has been some build up in earlier episodes. Maybe its just a drunken fling between the two before a major battle. Until we see the whole context of the scene and its place in season we shouldn't jump to conclusions.

That's true. A lot of us are getting a bit annoyed with the apparent direction D&D are taking, since this has happened before.

    • Yeah, I hope that in context it's just a short joke or something...but putting it front and center by putting it in the first official trailer? Insultingly oblivious.

    • On closer inspection, Jaime is clearly carrying Widow's Wail now that Tommen is dead.

The Entertainment Weekly character covers also openly show Arya carrying the distinctive Valyrian steel dagger that belongs to Littlefinger - the one that Joffrey grabbed to send the catspaw assassin to kill Bran, but which Littlefinger later recovered (last seen holding it to Ned's neck saying "I did warn you not to trust me"....

Unclear if she'll have it prominently or just get it after he inevitably dies somehow.
