The Game of Thrones cameras are rolling again, as the cast and crew begins shooting the upcoming season 2, based on George R.R. Martin's second book in A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Clash of Kings. The filming will take place over the next 6 months. Myself, I can't wait for the second season to start.
Much of the series is filmed in the huge Paint Hall in Belfast (pictured to the right), but some of it is also done on location, both in Northern Ireland, including Saintfield Estate (again used as the Winterfell Godswood) or Downhill beach (which will become Dragonstone, the island where Lord Stannis Baratheon resides), as well as in other countries. According to some recent reports (not yet officially confirmed), new locations will include Croatia and Iceland. The latter will be used to depict the land behind the Wall, where the wildlings live.
Check out the filming map at Winter is Coming for all officially confirmed filming locations. Maybe some of you live somewhere close?
