Entertainment Weekly has announced big casting news for the second season of Game of Thrones! Actors Stephen Dillane and Carice van Houten have been cast as Stannis Baratheon, brother of the late King Robert Baratheon, and Melisandre, the mysterious red priestess from the distant Asshai who is a member of Stannis's court.

Carice van Houten is a Dutch actress who has appeared in movies such as Valkyrie and Repo Men, while Stephen Dillane is a British actor who is now best known in the US for his role of Thomas Jefferson in HBO’s John Adams.

George R.R. Martin has also posted a new casting clue on his blog:

His fate is one that Derek Jacobi has tasted twice.
He knew Indiana Jones, has hung with droids and jedi, thrice contended for a Larry, winning once. He’s been a knight (often), an archbishop (twice), a dean, a priest, a doctor.

There's still plenty of major roles to be cast, for example ser Davos Seaworth. Myself, I can't wait for the second season to begin!
