New York Comic-Con 2015 starts today, Thursday, and extends through the weekend.
To my knowledge there are no Wikia-sponsored Game of Thrones events as there were last year:
I actually live in New York City (in fact once a week on my way to class I walk past HBO headquarters and the HBO store, at Bryant Park)...however (despite holding a Master's Degree in medieval History) I am unfortunately an unemployed student at the moment, so I couldn't afford full weekend tickets. I was only able to get a one day ticket for Saturday.
I did try to independently submit my own fan panels but they were rejected (I took my notes from one of them and basically rewrote them on here as the "Gender and Sexuality" article series so people could still get to see the content).
The main Game of Thrones panel is actually today at 4 pm. Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell), and Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara Sand) will be there. I will miss the panel entirely.
There is also a "fan meetup" panel listed as starting half an hour after the main panel, but I won't be there either.
Searching "Thrones" through their website, the only other Game of Thrones related content is on Saturday, which actually isn't specifically about Game of Thrones but a five person panel about TV adaptations of scifi/fantasy in general - one of whom is the insightful Charlie Jane Anders (the staff writer who does the weekly reviews of Game of Thrones for io9.com, I'm a regular reader).
So I'll try to get into the audience for that panel -- assuming the line isn't so long I get shut out.
Language creator David J. Peterson will also be there on at least Sunday, but I don't even know if he'll be there Saturday.
Jones and Castle-Hughes are hanging around Saturday afternoon with nothing scheduled but autographs - I might try to get in line for that, but it will probably be too long. Besides I don't want autographs, I'd just be asking a few questions I guess.
To be honest I doubt I'll be able to even get into the audience at any Game of Thrones related programming at NYCC 2015.
Is anyone else going to NYCC 2015?
If you're looking for me, I can be recognized by that I'm wearing my House Targaryen sigil T-shirt.
This situation is very confusing to me. Last year Wikia flew out an Administrator on a trans-Atlantic airplane flight, to host a panel with cast members, with a full weekend pass - all paid for on the company dollar. I live in New York City.
Well, more time to work on the wiki itself...
