I'm a VERY new fan of this series. I was surprised at how much I loved it. The series is one of the best that I've EVER seen.

Maybe some of you can answer some questions? (If you want)

Are the books as good as the series? I'm aware that the series and books don't always match up - but of those who have read the books - Did you like them? Did you prefer them?

Also - I did see that Jon Snow was killed in the final episode.

I've read online that Jon Snow is actually the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Which would explain the mystery why Ned Stark cheated on his wife and sired a bastard. Throughout the series, everybody seems shocked that Ned would have been unfaithful to Catelyn. Perhaps Ned NEVER was unfaithful. I read that when Ned went in search of his sister, he found her - she had recently given birth to Jon, and was dying. Her last wish was for Ned to take Jon back - and raise him as his own son.

This has probably been discussed here - I've done a lot of reading here - but I don't always find the things I'm looking for. So, in my ignorance - I have MANY questions that might sound rather...stupid? Thanks!
