Hi, welcome to Game of Thrones Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the User:QueenBuffy page.
| The Queens Archives|
Maybe you saw, but just in case. 99.999% certain won't make you reconsider, still felt it wasn't a totally invalid point on my part. User talk:WaitingForYou#uploading_new_images WaitingForYou (talk) 11:27, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
I need you to review "Version 2.0" of my writeup of this, sooner instead of later, I don't want to put it off until the end of Season 5, but to make it our "official position" and interlink with episode and character articles as soon as the other bureaucrats give it the go-ahead. Please point out anything you feel needs to be changed: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/The_Jaime/Cersei_sex_scene_in_%22Breaker_of_Chains%22

Jaqen H'ghar in Season 5?Edit
Main Page sliding panelEdit
- Well, Season 5 is interlinked through so many other things. I'm not sure, though. We should probably keep the mobile app link and the video game link.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 19:41, April 26, 2015 (UTC)
- Do you mean a Season 5/Wiki greeting panel in the first slider spot? QueenBuffy 21:45, April 26, 2015 (UTC)
Featured Programming UpdatedEdit
I noticed today that the featured programming section of Community Messages was painfully outdated. So I updated it with the recent Q&A and Giveaway things. Figured I might as well keep this updated every week or so. Let me know if you'd rather handle it or want a correction or something. Hopefully you don't mind!
Your message Edit
I just read your comment on my page, you're right about the images not adding categories, sorry for forgetting haha :( I used to add them but this time I forgot for the images I lately posted :(
About replacing the images with higher quality, I didn't know I could do that. If I replace the same picture because it's in low quality, I'll replace the old picture like you said! :) And for the elongated images, OK! :) I usually leave them as they are when I replace the info box image, but now I'll start making sure it's elongated :)
Thanks for the advice! :)
Free Copy of Telltale GoTEdit
Since you responded to the blog post I made in regards to best unfair fights, I wanted to pass along a Steam code for you. It's for the game Telltale: Game of Thrones. Send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can give you a code :)
Ideas for additional codesEdit
It's me again :)
I wanted to ask you about some ideas we had in regards to giving out some free game codes for Telltale: Game of Thrones.
We have a bunch of codes that we want to give to the community and had some ideas about how to do it:
(a) Us adding a "pencil unit" calling out the latest "The List" blog post and the giveaway that's part of it on relevant pages: TT GOT overview page (http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Game_of_Thrones:_A_Telltale_Games_Series), TT GOT hub (http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Telltale%27s_Game_of_Thrones_Super_Walkthrough), the latest episode article page (for example, http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Sons_of_the_Harpy_(episode)). I can send you a screenshot of what it would look like on an article page
(b) Running a giveaway blog post (requirements to enter: log in, then leave a comment with your favorite GOT character) and then featuring that giveaway in the first slot of the main page slider for a few days?
(c) Lastly, would you mind if we updated the text of the community message itself when you change the Featured Programs section (so instead of sending the generic notice "Community Message has been Updated" it updates with context and a link)?
Let me know if your thoughts and concerns and please pass this on to any other admins you feel it should go to.
Why did you revert and ban the anonymous edits to Filming locations which added links to tour companies? And you banned their IP addresses. That's why there's a links section there - for tour companies to be added to. I don't think it counts as solicitation - though we do have to weed out the "good quality" tours from the small scale stuff just trying to latch onto the name.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 22:33, May 15, 2015 (UTC)
- I just assumed it was spamming out to external sites. If we are going to allow "some" external links, we need to specify this in our policy. QueenBuffy 03:25, May 16, 2015 (UTC)
36? Cool. I hope you get stuff. No one remembered my b-day last time around (save my nuclear family) though obviously that's because I graduated and moved so it's not like I'm in contact with as many as I used to be.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:45, May 15, 2015 (UTC)
- Yep, 36.. gettin' old! BAH! Thankfully most still think I am in my 20s. :)~ Well, no one would remember my Bday if it wasn't for Facebook. haha QueenBuffy 03:25, May 16, 2015 (UTC)
- Happy belated birthday!--Gonzalo84 (talk) 18:20, May 19, 2015 (UTC)
- Aw, thank you!! But it was my "name day" really. ;) lol QueenBuffy 18:25, May 19, 2015 (UTC)
Hall of FacesEdit
- I think maybe just a "See Also: Hall of faces" at the bottom of the page? I don't know. I guess we can see what others think. QueenBuffy 19:34, May 19, 2015 (UTC)
We have a new beta project out, and since it's going to be critical to Wikia's future, we're asking for your help.
We want to partner with your community (and a couple others) and collaborate on a redesign of your existing infoboxes. It’s not a small task, but it’s one that we think we can get done relatively quickly and efficiently. Our engineers - both here in San Francisco and in Poland - will get hands-on with your community and work with your team to redesign the infoboxes.
You can read more here in the forum (and head to the sandbox to give it a whirl), but the tl:dr version: our current infobox structure translates very poorly to mobile experiences, and mobile is where Wikia’s growth lies. We came up with a solution that will take a bit of effort, but will pay significant dividends in the near future. What we're hoping is that we can use this community to test out its strengths and limitations while we get it from “beta” to “full feature”.
What you get out of the deal:
- Wikia engineers who will work directly with your community to update the code that underpins your infoboxes
- Access to staff for feedback, and our promise that your ideas will be taken seriously
- A head-start on this change and therefore a significant upgrade in your community’s visibility
What we get out of the deal:
- Several fresh sets of eyes that can help us understand how this will be used by the average Wikian
- A test community that will let us track how the new infobox structure is used by visitors and viewers
- The opportunity to share this initiative’s successes (and failures, I’m sure!) with the wider Wikia community and show them that it’s a smart plan for our shared mobile future
Please talk this over with your admin team and let me know. I’m happy to answer any and all questions about this - please use my wall or just keep the conversation going here.
We'd love your help, but it's not 100% necessary. You have gorgeous infoboxes, of course, I should've complimented them before. We'd have zero interest in doing anything that would ruin them; we just want to get a better experience for mobile users.
I'd absolutely love to discuss with your other admins - who do you recommend I talk to? Do you folks chat together somewhere?
Promotion and Giveaway OpportunitiesEdit
I spoke with The Dragon Demands earlier this week, but he suggested I also ask for your opinion.
We are going to do a game code giveaway next week for the Telltale: Game of Thrones series. TDD said it would be cool if we switched from the 4th hub slider to the 1st for the duration of the giveaway ~6/19 and update the community message one time. Cool?
Another thing has come down the pipeline that MAY or MAY NOT actually happen, but I wanted to see if you'd be interested:
We are working with sponsors and partners to place certain content on fan communities.
This content could be, for example, trailers or behind-the-scenes videos and would live in a prominent place on all of the pages of your community. The placement is temporary (~2-4 weeks) and is only done with admin consent. This is a great way to get content that is relevant and interesting to existing fans as well as drive new fans to your Wikia community!
Here is an example of what it would look like. Its the image/banner above the slider.
Again, this isn't something we're going to do for sure, just want to know if you'd be interested.
Thanks for taking the time to get back to me,
Could you lock the Myrcella Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, and Jon Snow pages? There's an edit war going on over whether they're dead or not that's dragging on. DRAEVAN13 12:09, June 16, 2015 (UTC)
#SCOTUSMarriage on the Main PageEdit
Re: Abusive Behavior on GoT, continued from the Sons of Anarchy Wiki Edit
First thing's first: thank you for lifting the IP Block. Secondly; don't feel like you have to apologize. You've done nothing wrong. There's only one person who has, and they're the one who should be apologizing in my books (and moreso shouldn't have done it in the first place). In response to your questions... Yes, they is a good IP address to reach me at. So much so that that was one of the reasons it was so hard for me to contact you after the abusive block on here; so you can send whatever and I will respond as best as I can.
Secondly: no, I did not have a user name on this website. I'm more of a Wiki lurker (and a new one to this one at that). I rarely make accounts in general, and I tend to edit "pseudo-anonymously" without logging in even when I do. In this case, part of the reason why I didn't was the rumors I'd heard about problems with the site staff and policies. So I decided to look around for areas to "dip my toes into the water". Unfortunately, the first time I tried that someone tried to bite my toes off and ban me from the pool for life. If there is any way I can help with this, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for everything, and I'm sorry this is a problem. 184.108.40.206 16:37, July 10, 2015 (UTC)
Background image update Edit
It was recently brought to our attention that the middle part of the current background image, that doesn't match the rest of the background, is visible around the banner ad that appears above the content page. See this screenshot for an example. It's a minor detail but in an effort to improve the background even more, I made an updated version of the background that displays the map all the way across the area. Here's a screenshot of theme designer. While you can't see the gap above the content area, you can see that it's using the same map image, and that more or the map is visible on larger screens, like mine.
- I thought we needed some minor refinement on the background image but didn't know who to ask. The bottom of the columns (as seen in your screenshots) is blackspace; is there anyway to make a thinner vertical slice which can extend taller? This is just nudging and refining, not an immediate crisis to take you away from bigger stuff at the moment :) --The Dragon Demands (talk) 23:01, July 15, 2015 (UTC)
Please confirm via the talk page if you as a Bureaucrat support this as the "official position" etc, I should have asked you sooner: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Breaker_of_Chains/Jaime-Cersei_sex_scene
Hi, Buffy. I've seen you on other wikis and I was wondering if you write stories. In case you do, would you like to help me with my story?
Checking in Part IIEdit
Well, I finally finished the "Gender and Sexuality" series of articles and I need you to read over them in case there are any issues (check their talk pages).
This includes "Gender and Sexuality" and its two sub-pages I had to branch off: "Rape" and "Differences in the status of women between books and TV series".
Altogether these are about 60,000 words long. You should get a snack.
Also a few weeks ago I rewrote the "Breaker of Chains/Jaime-Cersei sex scene" article to be more succinct - half as long as it used to be, now only 12 singlespaced Microsoft Word pages long. Please also read through that in case there's anything you disagree with.
Frankly, as both a Bureaucrat on here and a woman, I really need you to read over the "rape" and "Jaime/Cersei scene" articles to determine if anything should be changed.
I also wrote up a page on "Prophecies, visions, and dreams"; you might want to read it but it seems in good shape (I made it because AWOIAF has one), and seems broadly accepted.
Not much else on the news front.
I will be going to New York Comic Con on Saturday as a private citizen. I heard no news of a Wikia panel or anything. I can't go to the fan-meetup MootCon on Thursday because I have class on Thursday nights.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 13:56, October 7, 2015 (UTC)
Dance of the DragonsEdit
Forum: Which side do you support in the Dance of the Dragons?
- That's really impossible to say - large battle scenes and so forth; and that's assuming you're restricting it to on-screen deaths.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 19:55, October 14, 2015 (UTC)
Hello, Queen Buffy
As you know I have added a sigil for House Dustin , that was not a spoiler at the show because if you recall Tywin and Arya when they meet at Harrenhall , Tywin asks her were she is from she lied at the begining and then she addmited that she was from the North and Arya gives us how House Dustin spoiler is when she said t crossed axes on a yellow field. Adding a sigil in House dustin Page is not a spoiler. I do not how this a spoiler. I am trying to make this page apealing to the reader not dull and boring.
Abduction of Lyanna StarkEdit
Hi there. I just noticed that fan speculation was re-added to the Abduction of Lyanna Stark page again. It's still protected, but could the page be restored to the canonically correct version, at least until any new information on it comes out that's not based on fan theories? Arya Baratheon (talk) 02:47, February 15, 2016 (UTC)
- Actually I agreed with your criticism, and I unlocked it so you can take out whatever you don't want in there. I have got to get back to work right now otherwise I'd redo it myself again (juggling a dozen tasks on my end). And thank you for bringing the article up to attention, I want to make sure it's good.--The Dragon Demands (talk) 02:56, February 15, 2016 (UTC)
- Glad this worked itself out. Hi TDD!!! :) QueenBuffy 02:42, February 18, 2016 (UTC)
Hey there, long time no type! I've got a giveaway coming next week - straight from HBO. Just giving a heads-up, I'd love to get something going on the main page temporarily to help promote it while it's going on. HBO is giving us both a DVD and a Blu-ray of season 5 that we'll be giving away. Thanks in advance!
Hi! We at PLL wiki would love to affiliate with you.
Hey there! We're looking to do a Bracket Tournament here for GoT characters past & present - just as a fun sort of lead-in for the new season WHICH CAN'T GET HERE FAST ENOUGH!!! >.< We have a new bracket system which is a lot more visually appealing & easier to use than the older styles we used to make - you can see an example here: Avengers Tourney. Just wanted to run it by you to make sure you're okay with it, and ask if I can once again steal a slider spot for it. I've swapped the Giveaway slider back out for the Star Wars one I replaced with it - I would assume that spot would be fine for this too. Hit me up & let me know what you think! :)
Don't feel bad about not having HBO.
I'm sitting on a Medieval History Master's Degree but I am also flat broke, as there are no medievalist jobs at present, I keep going back to school for "other vocational training" while daydreaming about writing research papers on twelfth century France again, I moved back in with my parents, and the only reason I can watch the show is because I essentially begged another family member to share their HBO password with me (though the loss of Wake the Dragon hurt most of all - a dragon that dreamt he was a man, and loved it...)
Point is that on the daydream "list of demands" I'd send to HBO are "we need a few paid-for HBO Now accounts set up which Admins can use, we're kind of doing a promotional service for you guys".
But don't worry:
The TV writers are paid to do what they do - we are not. The very fact that we're scraping by, often not even having live paid access to the show, entirely for free and on a shoestring budget should tell you something: we can win.
As for "The Red Woman", if you didn't see it live...
as you may have guessed, the Dorne subplot reached heights of absurdity we had never before imagined. We thought it couldn't get worse than "you want a good girl, but you need the bad pussy". We were wrong.
They randomly killed off half the Dorne characters...and even in so doing, the actual writing, plotting, dialogue, was all godawful and woefully out of character (the Sand Snakes joking as they kill Doran and Trystane, thus we don't get the reveal that Doran was secretly plotting revenge the entire time).
What we do know is that they didn't even plan to go to Dorne until after Season 4 ended....many reviewers outright think that these new utterly wholescale changes to Dorne was their awful attempt to "wipe the slate clean", while others fear that the writers have decided to launch a new direction for Dorne.
...Let me put this in "True Blood" terms:
Imagine if the entire set of "Fangtasia" club characters was handled on the show in godawful fashion...and that in response, in the next season the writers killed off all of the Fangtasia characters by having them all randomly killed by leprechauns. Then they expect fans to be outright grateful they ended a bad subplot. When in reality, everyone still blames them for causing the mess in the first place - we know it was their fault to begin with! Taking as a given that they were going to kill them all off to reboot, "random leprechaun attack" is agreed by all to have been a stupid idea. Thus everyone is falling into two camps: those who hated the badly handled Fangtasia subplot that they at least hope this is the end of it, even if it was mishandled....and the other half who live in horror that the writers think the leprechauns are an "improvement" over the source material and will become recurring characters.
It utterly failed. It's misogynist and borderline racist. The Sand Snakes are one poorly written character spread across three people, and if you thought "need the bad pussy" was an isolated incident....no, Benioff and Weiss seem to think this is genuinely quality writing. My god.
But to stress this (I've been rambling)....the weirdest thing was how the episode immediately snapped back to quality as soon as the Dorne chunk ended. I mean it was like how Season 5 was "mixed quality" across an entire season...all condensed into one episode. If you edited out the Dorne part it was actually rather pleasant....while the Dorne part surpassed just how bad it was in Season 5 to new heights of outright absurdity - *I* use the term "absurd" a lot. Let this sink in: even casual viewers or TV-first reviews that care nothing about the novels think this entire sequence was utterly bizarre and amateurish.
So we're sticking around in the sense that OTHER than the Dorne subplot, rotten to the core, the other parts seemed okay. Maybe this was all just the result of poor planning ahead, I don't know.
Also the Jon Snow subplot was mishandled as feared. Thank god even casual reviews did notice this; many were waiting for the other shoe to drop and a coherent explanation of Thorne's motivations in the TV continuity - none came. They just doubled down on "wildlings" with nothing to do with Stannis at all...leading to the plot hole of why they'd kill Jon for letting wildlings through the Wall after he already did!
Compounding the error....you wouldn't see this if you didn't watch it streaming or something....the "previously on Game of Thrones" sequence stupidly showed the entire clip of Thorne letting them through the Wall. So even casual fans who might have forgotten this is how the TV show did it (i.e. family members I have) were reminded it didn't make sense, and began openly asking in reviews how the hell this made logical sense.
Meanwhile, in a moment of comedy gold, Benioff and Weiss....outright contradicted each other in the "inside the episode" video. Weiss says Thorne was always planning to kill Jon, Benioff says Thorne did it for selfless reasons - it can't be both you idiots!
The eyes of the world were on them for the Jon Snow death thing, and they didn't bother to set up the motivations of his attackers?!
Moreover, the eyes of the world were on the Season 6 premiere for the Jon Snow cliffhanger.....and they chose to put this embarrassingly awful Dorne sequence in THIS episode? Not even episode two? EVERYONE saw this!
In a way it was almost liberating....like, shadenfreude. The alterations to the Dorne subplot failed so miserably that it was worse than in Season 5, and it feels like a dam has burst. Benioff and Weiss have a true mess on their hands for this. It's irredeemable. --The Dragon Demands (talk) 07:14, April 30, 2016 (UTC)
