Vermithrax was a dragon who was bred by House Targaryen. After its death, its skull decorated the Red Keep in King's Landing.

Game of Thrones: Season 1[]
Vermithrax is one of the dragons mentioned by Viserys as he bathes with Doreah in Vaes Dothrak.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Vermithrax Pejorative is the name of the dragon in the 1981 fantasy film Dragonslayer. On the DVD commentary of "Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things", Bryan Cogman states that D.B. Weiss used the name as an homage to "one of the great '80s fantasy films".[2] George R.R. Martin ranked the film fifth in his "Top 10 Fantasy Films".[3]
