Vermithrax was a dragon who was bred by House Targaryen. After its death, its skull decorated the Red Keep in King's Landing.[1]
Trivia
- Vermithrax Pejorative is the name of the dragon in the 1981 fantasy film Dragonslayer. On the DVD commentary of "Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things", Bryan Cogman states that D.B. Weiss included the name as a shout out to "one of the great '80s fantasy films".[2] George R.R. Martin ranked the film fifth in his "Top 10 Fantasy Films".[3]
